magical stories by Mary J Mann
Bertrand , the explorer from Solana…
Bertrand was born and raised on Solana, a green planet in a small galaxy close to the Milky Way. For centuries the planet has been peaceful due to an inoculation with a BlueStone gene. Each citizen felt equal to the others, and each felt they had a good life. That all changed when the gene mutated. Those with the mutant BlueStone gene had amazing abilities that started when they were babies. They could levitate objects from their cribs. Solana’s population did not like ‘different’. They liked being equal. They really liked being the same. They wanted the mutant BlueStone gone so they could get back to their peaceful existence.
Bertrand was an explorer on Earth. He loved the forests and lakes in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He purchased land in both places in the 1850s. In Wisconsin he built a home for himself, a home for Martha and a Big House for visitors. In Minnesota he built a secret home for his refugees with the help of his android friend, Homer. His mutant BlueStone refugees would have a home. It was ready.
Bertrand was a gentle soul. He loved Matilda. He felt the mutant BlueStone were his to keep safe. Why? There was no one else to do it. He still felt all citizens were equally valuable.
Earth was home to many Solana citizens. Isabella, a psychic, in Santa Fe. Dr John, a trauma surgeon in South Africa, Professor John, a librarian and researcher in New York City, Ahmed, the first mutant BlueStone, and keeper of the Solana manuscript in Baghdad. Pete, a gym owner in Albuquerque. Newer were Matilda, a bookstore owner and adventurer, Thomas, a pilot and engineer and Jack, a professor at Merton College in Oxford. All these characters joined Bertrand to save the refugees from Solana. Then they settled into their secret colony. Available as a Kindle Edition on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKVXKXF2
